Flea, Tick and Heartworm Prevention

Not only can these parasites be a health risk to your pet, but they can also pose a risk to you and your family. Prevention against these parasites is key, especially between the months of June to November. Our veterinarians can help you choose the best prevention method for your pet. We offer many different sage and effective products including oral and topical preventatives.

Fleas

A pet with fleas may show signs of discomfort, restlessness, scratching, biting and chewing. Pets can develop allergic skin reactions and can also contract tapeworm from fleas. A flea infestation on your pet can quickly lead to an infestation in your home environment. Therefore, flea prevention plays a key role in your pet’s well being.

Ticks

Tick prevention for your pet is crucial if your pet is living in or travelling to an area where ticks are common. Tick populations have been growing each year and along with that, the concern for tick borne diseases, such as Lyme Disease has been increasing. We can help with the removal of ticks from your pet and help you choose the appropriate tick control product for your pet.

Heartworm

Heartworm is transmitted to your dog from the bite of an infected mosquito. It can be a serious, life-threatening disease; therefore we strongly recommend testing for heartworm every other year to ensure your dog is heartworm free before starting annual heartworm prevention. The good news is that heartworm can be easily prevented with a once a month heartworm prevention.

Please do not hesitate to ask if your pet is at risk and contact us with any questions you may have.
